Water Filters
Many of the areas where Gospel
for Asia-supported missionaries
are serving lack a good source of
healthy water. A BioSand water
filter meets this basic need by
providing an entire family with
safe drinking water.
BioSand water filters use layers of sand and gravel to remove impurities, providing water for drinking and cooking that is 98 percent pure. They are easy to build, don’t require electricity and are made from locally available materials.
Pbysical and Spiritual Thirst
Like everyone else in Tarun’s
neighborhood, Navin and Chitra Malik
had no running water and were forced to
buy it from tanker trucks.
But this water was dirty and not
really suitable for drinking—and worst of
all, it was creating health problems for
Sujin, their little boy.
“Our baby used to always fall sick,”
Chitra remembers.
Sujin would get boils all over his
body, he frequently ran a fever, and he
also suffered from digestive issues.
Watching their baby suffer like this was
painful for Navin and Chitra, but they
had no way to get water that wouldn’t
make Sujin sick.
All the while, Tarun was going about
his ministry in their neighborhood, always
looking for ways to point people to the
hope found in Christ. Navin and Chitra
were familiar with Tarun. But because
they weren’t interested in his message—or
his God—they virtually ignored him.
Opening Their Hearts
Tarun knew about their struggles and
found a way to show them Christ’s love:
He provided them with a BioSand water
filter. They not only enjoyed the taste of
the pure, refreshing water, but they also
started to notice that their baby’s health
was steadily improving.
