Half a Penny Changed His Life GOSPEL LITERATURE
Alok’s wife and sons were the first in his family to come
to know Jesus, and their decision infuriated him. When
he found out who had led them to the Lord, he forbade
this pastor from ever visiting his house again—that is,
until he found a tiny piece of paper that would forever
change his heart toward his family’s decision.
It had been a gradual journey for Alok’s family. They had heard of Jesus previously from some Christians who had visited their home. Alok’s
family began to believe what they heard, but they
only integrated Christianity with their current faith.
They didn’t turn from their old religion to serve Jesus
until they understood the message more fully from
Gospel for Asia-supported pastor Darsan. That was
when they gave up all their old religious practices and
believed in Christ alone.
When Alok learned that Darsan had led his wife
and sons to Christ, he was enraged. He made it
difficult for his family, doing all he could to discourage
their new faith. But his newly-saved family clung to
the Lord and prayed faithfully with other believers for
Alok to see the truth of God’s love for him, even
though it looked as if it would be impossible for Alok
to turn from the religion he held on to so fiercely.
But then Alok found a small Gospel tract lying in
his house, literature left behind by Pastor Darsan. For
some reason, this little non-threatening paper began
to impact his mind and his heart. And Alok kept
reading, even going through some of the Christian
books the missionary had left for the family.
God was answering the family’s prayers, and the
literature softened Alok’s heart. In just a few days, the
tracts he read—which cost less than one penny to
print—opened his heart, eventually leading him to see
his sin and his need for Jesus’ help in his life. He
turned to follow Him.
Today, instead of opposing his family’s faith,
Alok joins them at the church where Darsan is pastor.
The family is growing together in the Lord and
desires to share their decision with their neighbors.

Did you know? Just one dollar will print 200 Gospel tracts. In 2009, Gospel
for Asia published more than 45 million pieces of Gospel literature like the tract
that changed Alok’s heart. These little booklets are distributed by GFA-supported
missionaries, Bible college students and believers throughout Asia.
