Serving God
Behind the Scenes
Santosh Khan knows you don’t have to be a missionary in a
remote village to serve the Lord with passion. For him, working
at a Gospel for Asia office in South Asia is a special calling.

“… I have
made myself
a servant to
all, that I

the more.”
– 1 Corinthians 9: 19
Every day at the office, Santosh blesses his co-workers by performing many small yet vital tasks. Among other things, he is
responsible for preparing meals and keeping the
office clean. He even makes tea to keep his
friends alert throughout the day.
If asked why he chooses to serve others this
way, Santosh would probably explain the
incredible ways God has blessed his life.
Not long ago, Santosh was at his wit’s end.
His wife, Hita, was suffering from tuberculosis
and demonic attacks. Santosh tried everything
to help her: He consulted several doctors and
prayed at temples and shrines. He even prayed
to the gods of other religions.
But Hita remained sick. In fact, her health
began eroding even faster. Her whole family
grew very concerned as they watched her fade.
In his distress, Santosh didn’t think to call
on his neighbor, who was a follower of Christ.
But one day, the Lord moved this neighbor to tell
Santosh about Jesus and His power. Remembering
how all other gods had failed, Santosh wasted
no time in taking his wife to a local church.
The pastor prayed for Hita, and gradually
she was completely healed. Both Santosh and
Hita were convinced: Jesus was the only God
powerful enough to be Lord of their lives. They
got rid of their old idols and chose to follow Him.
As a result of their decision, they initially
faced much persecution from the rest of their
family, but the Lord helped them to withstand it
all. And today, by God’s grace, the Khans no
longer face such opposition.
Now Santosh follows the Apostle Paul’s
example by serving God—and his co-workers—
from behind the scenes. Two of his daughters
have also heard God’s call to service and have
chosen to study at a Bible college.
Santosh requests prayer for wisdom and
understanding for his three daughters and for
his son, who is struggling with his faith. He also
asks for God’s special grace and salvation for
those in the community where he lives.
